Always safe, never bored.
Seven years ago we started with an idea: a school where kids are always safe, and never bored.
A school that gets consistent results by being consistently kind.
A school where kindness means being clear that identifying and solving the problems of educational inequity in our neighborhood takes more time and more effort.
A school that has better student attendance and staff retention not despite our challenging mission, but because of it. A charter school that takes care of teachers. A public school that actually educates all students to achieve.
A school where kids and adults look forward to coming back tomorrow to work hard, as a team.
Normally when we share our results, we compare them to New York City’s.
Today, we’re not going to do that.
We’re just going to show you Creo’s results compared to ourselves.
Our first graduating class started in the borrowed basement of a boys’ Catholic school and grew 50% in ELA and 40% in math. 60% of them left with high school credit in Algebra and Biology.
Our second graduating class did 5th grade on Zoom and grew 52% in ELA and 54% in Math by the time they left us, with a 100% pass rate on the Algebra Regents exam in 8th grade.
Our third graduating class was our first to spend all four years in our building, and grew 56% in ELA and 53% in Math in middle school, and, like their peers the year before, achieved a 100% pass rate on Algebra.
Doing this once is founding. Doing it twice is sustaining. Doing it three times…is just how we do it.
So if you made this far and don’t feel like donating, we’ll try you again next year. But if you can help our kids visit out-of-state colleges and build robots and read banned books from our new library and learn real history and experiment in our new science lab and work on wellness in our new basement studios and go for a third year of 90%+ team retention AND 100% passing Algebra…if you can be part of building a school where kids are always safe and never bored, we’d love to have you.
